Bloom of Light

The fundamental question was to organize the functional spaces through the right connections in a very narrow rectangular site. Since the design brief was revolving around privacy as the upmost concern, the main concept of this design was to keep privacy while exploring visual amplitude and nature connection. Hence, we aimed to incorporate natural light into the overall experience in various nuances like visual and physical connects, wind movement, quality of light, etc. to make it connect with the surroundings despite the introverted planning.

All the spaces are growing around the singular axis with some intervals to allow every individual a visual treat to the adjoining spaces through double height volume. Additionally, skylights were added above these volumes after carefully studying the sun’s path along the plot, which creates an ever-changing play of light in living, family, and the deity’s area.

The material palette is a combination of Kota stone, reclaimed wood, large glass windows, and an exposed structural system which helps in creating a rustic, yet refined ambiance. Custom-designed mild steel I beams are strategically placed to ensure a large span without interrupting space by a series of columns and allow a cantilever mass that can be further utilized as an entrance canopy.
